The General Medical Council (GMC) is responsible for providing GMC registration for doctors which is required before they may practice medicine in the UK.
Graduates from M&D partnered medical schools based in Europe usually experience very few, or no, restrictions to practising medicine within Europe, including the UK.
Graduates of Medical schools based outside of Europe, including the Caribbean and Grand Cayman, are usually required to pass the PLAB examination held by the GMC.
This would then grant permission for Foundation year 1 or year 2 training at NHS hospitals in the UK.
So far, all graduates from M&D partnered medical schools have not faced problems in gaining recognition in a country they wish to practise in.
However, as recognition policies can change, we advise that recognition of qualifications is confirmed by contacting the GMC directly using the following webpage:

Information regarding registration for doctors is also available on the following page:

Recognition of Medical degrees in the US:
Graduates are usually required to successfully pass all steps of the USMLE examination before they may obtain a licence to practise medicine in the US.
Graduates from Caribbean medical schools are taught under USMLE guidelines, with the intention to have a high USMLE pass rate. Therefore, students interested in practising medicine in the USA are strongly advised to consider studying medicine at a Caribbean medical school.
For information on the recognition of medical or dental degrees in countries outside the UK, please contact the medical council or equivalent in the relevant country in which you intend to gain recognition and practise.
