It is now possible to secure a place at the Medical/Dental Schools of Charles University, Prague several months before you actually begin your course.
Entrance examinations and interviews will take place as early as Spring/Summer 2008, usually at The University of London, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, located in South Kensington, London.
As we are also linked to most independent schools in the UK.
Please note: There are no entrance exams as such for application to SMU (4-year Programme) or the M & D Pre-Med at Sussex University. Decisions for these courses will be made on basis of past academic achievements, followed by an interview.
This is an excellent opportunity for those applicants that are admitted early by Charles University for a number of reasons:
MORE TIME:
It gives you adequate time to decide whether studying abroad is the correct option for you. We understand that students will only consider studying abroad if it is their only option to study Medicine or Dentistry.
It provides adequate time to raise funds needed for tuition fee payment and also for you to visit the University, before you decide whether to enrol.
BACK-UP OPTION:
Successful applicants will be issued with an Unconditional Offer if they have met the entrance requirements or a Conditional Offer if they are still awaiting A/AS level or Degree exam results from Charles University and are not required to accept their offer of a place before August 2006.
Therefore, any offers made may be used as a 'back-up', in case adequate A/AS level grades are not achieved for a place at a British Medical/Dental School.
BETTER CHANCES:
Applicants are more likely to succeed in winning a place if they apply early. This is because you will have far more time to prepare for the entrance examination/interview and you will sit the examination while you are studying for your A/AS levels. Therefore relatively less preparation for the entrance examination will be needed.
As soon as most A/AS level grades are published in mid-August, students are rushing to contact various universities, which can be quite a stressful experience. It would be even more stressful for you to have to prepare for another examination during this time, 3 months after you last opened a textbook!
GOOD PRACTICE:
The entrance examination/interview will be held under strict standard examination conditions. This would give you a little practice and test your knowledge in preparation for your final A/AS Examinations in June. Certain applicants will be interviewed at the same standard as British Medical/Dental Schools. This too, would provide good practice for when you are actually called for interview over the next few months.
BOOST CONFIDENCE:
Actually winning a place at a Medical/Dental School will boost your confidence. Knowing that you are the one to choose where you study Medicine or Dentistry is likely to help your confidence during British Medical/Dental School interviews and may ease stress and anxiety during your forthcoming A/AS level examinations.

Who Can Apply Early?
Each applicant will be considered in detail and decisions will be made based on what educational courses the applicant has completed and what courses the applicant is intending to complete in the future.
Therefore, if you fall into one of the categories below, you may apply early:
1. Students in the 2nd year of studying A/AS levels:
This would have to be students that are studying at least 2 of the following: Chemistry/Physics/Biology/Mathematics at A or AS level. (only in special circumstances will applicants close to completing their 1st year of A/AS levels be considered).
2. Students that are about to complete a Degree:
The degree must be based on a scientific field, i.e.: Biology, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Physiology, Anatomy. Such students may with to continue into a career Medicine or Dentistry if they are unable to win a place in the UK.
(only in special circumstances will applicants pursuing a non-scientific degree be considered for direct entry, if they show adequate scientific knowledge)
3. Non-Medical/Dental Applicants:
We welcome applicants that may not have applied for Medicine or Dentistry in Britain. Such applicants may not have applied in Britain due to low predicted A/AS level grades or simply because they feel they would not win a place in Britain.
4. Mature Applicants:
We do not have any age restriction to application. Applicants above the age of 28, that may be unable to apply to a British University due to their age will be considered if they show adequate scientific knowledge and motivation towards a Medical/Dental course.
5. Non-British Applicants:
Non-British, European or non-European applicants are welcome and are given exactly the same consideration as British applicants. (Such applicants must of course be totally fluent in the English language!)
